The Blu-ray edition of 'Goblet of Fire' is presented with a crisp 1080p/VC-1 transfer (identical to the HD DVD) that showcases every pebble and crack the film has to offer. While it isn't quite as jaw-dropping as ' Order of the Phoenix,' it looks a hair better than 'Prisoner of Azkaban,' tops 'Chamber of Secrets,' and easily outclasses 'Sorcerer's Stone.' By further comparison, it makes the standard-def 'Goblet of Fire' DVD an absolute waste of shelf space.

While I enjoy the first two 'Alien' movies, I'm no fanatic of the series. My opinion of 'Prometheus' is based solely on 'Prometheus.' If you still have not yet seen 'Prometheus,' rest assured knowing that my review is mostly spoiler-free. I will not explain the reveals.
Turns out, Maddie is an orphan a kindly family adopted as a child from an "orphanage" that is more of an asylum, one where an evil entity called "Gabriel" has figured out a way to communicate through broadcast channels, electricity, and telephones, though we don't learn until later exactly how he manifests. He knows, too, how to murder people in inventive, discomfiting ways. When he materializes in the middle of a holding cell featuring the entire panoply of '70s exploitation extras, it's one of the most pleasurable moments of the film not just for the volume and atrocity of the kills, but for the deliciousness of its build-up. This is a movie that reminded me of the morgue sequence from Re-Animator in addition to, somehow, both Freddy Got Fingered and Blood and Black Lace. As I play the film through again in my mind, the urge to keep listing movies is out of less dutiful recitation than constant discovery. Even the villain's lair reminds me a little bit of the figure-in-red's hiding place in Don't Look Now. I don't know how much of that is intended and it doesn't really matter; Malignant had me participating in its acts of reverential recreation.
THE BLU-RAY DISCby Bill Chambers Although James Wan is a Warner darling as the engineer of the cash-cow Conjuring universe, Malignant performed far enough below expectations that the studio has opted not to give it a physical 4K release like the Wan-less, and dreadful, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It got. It's a shame because the film was finished in 4K HDR (and played that way on HBO Max last summer), but the Blu-ray meets the movie's visual demands. The 2.39:1, 1080p transfer is fairly dark throughout but holds up well, at least on an LED display, even under moderately bright lighting conditions. There's a greenish bias to the midtones that is fittingly putrid but does have a tendency to make the image look a bit one-note, though it doesn't obstruct the occasional splash of red and other lurid giallo colours. Shadows reveal as much as you need to see, while fine detail is crisp without becoming electronic. I suspect HDR would make more of the chiaroscuro contrasts and bring the fireworks to Gabriel's electric demonstrations, but people are still dying en masse daily, so I don't really give a shit.
What is 4K?4K, or 4K Ultra HD, is a video resolution technology that provides a picture with four times as many pixels as 1080p HDX resolution. The increased number of pixels helps create a sharper, more detailed and more lifelike viewing experience.
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finds Indy (Harrison Ford) trying to outrace a brilliant and beautiful agent (Cate Blanchett) for the mystical, all-powerful crystal skull of Akator. Teaming up with a rebellious young biker (Shia LaBeouf) and his spirited original love Marion (Karen Allen), Indy takes you on an action-packed adventure in the exciting tradition of the classic Indiana Jones movies!
Another thing to consider is that nearly all new HDTVs you can buy today are capable of de-interlacing 1080i video signals so they look just like 1080p, which makes it even harder to notice a difference.
These days, 1080p and 1080i are old hat compared to the much more publicized 4K format available with most new HDTVs (often classed as UHD TVs). With 4K resolution, picture clarity is sharper and more colorful than ever. Consumers can also enjoy sitting quite a bit closer to their living room TV without noticing any sort of distortion in the image. This is because 4K TVs display close to four times the number of pixels as a standard 1080p set. Simply put, the more pixels on display, the better the picture quality. Better yet, most UHD sets will also upconvert a standard HD image, making your regular HD sources look closer to actual 4K.
We have chosen the following discs from the hundreds available so far. These movies not only show off the capabilities of your brand-new television, they're also good. (Well, we liked them, at least.)
All of these titles include the 4K disc as well as the standard 1080p Blu-ray copy in the package. To watch the 4K version you'll need a 4K TV and a 4K Blu-ray player, such as the Sony UBP-X800. All of the 4K discs also include HDR (high dynamic range) information, and when watched on a compatible HDR TV they can look noticeably better than standard Blu-ray.
4K movies don't need to be all about explosions and spaceships, and this Korean domestic thriller is a great showcase for cinema's subtler side. The movie offers shades of Old Boy as well as Bong Joon-ho's earlier The Host -- both in terms of its muted color palette and themes of isolation and family. It's as hilarious as it is gripping.
It's one of only two animated movies on this list, but Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is its own thing. You may have seen superhero origin stories before, or other animated films, but without a doubt you have never witnessed anything quite like this. It looks like a comic book, but the most amazing comic book you've ever seen. There's HDR... and then there's this movie. With a great story, a multitude of interesting characters and excellent Atmos sound, this is one of the 4K Bu-ray discs you must own.
Not as flashy visually as some of the other movies here. But despite its muted color palette, the images are clean and the film stands up to 4K resolution in a way that most movies can't. Throw in the unbearable suspense and a great soundtrack and you have an instant home theater classic. As far as visual storytelling is concerned, Dunkirk is the new benchmark.
The poster child for what 4K movies are capable of, The Revenant is one of the most beautifully shot movies we've ever seen. The picture quality is flawless and both the expanded color palette and dynamic range pop. Put it on the biggest screen you can afford and turn the volume up!
Marvel movies might be a dime a dozen these days, but Black Panther isn't a cookie-cutter, by-the-numbers CGI-fest. It has something to say, and it does so in a way that is both entertaining and visually arresting. The world of Black Panther is fleshed out with both real characters and tangible-looking scenery -- it won the Oscars for both costume and production design. RIP Chadwick Boseman.
If there was ever a disc that could make you shake your head in amazement at how good 4K movies can look, The Greatest Showman is it. It offers spectacular image quality and finely judged HDR effects. The story may be a little hokey but it's forgivable as a way to space out the supremely catchy songs. Only Hugh Jackman's at times bizarre makeup and slippery trans-Pacific accent distract somewhat from the spectacle. But what a spectacle it is. This UHD 4K Blu-ray is one of the best reasons to buy a 4K TV.
Put aside its slightly creaky story and dumb heroics and see the eighth movie in the series for what it is: a visually stunning popcorn movie. Like Blade Runner 2049, Last Jedi hinges on spectacular set pieces, including a throne room fight (which pops in HDR) and the final Battle of Crait. While all of the Star Wars movies are now available in 4K this was the first.
While way too sweary and violent for your usual comic book movie audience, Deadpool is perhaps the best of the more adult adaptations so far. It ranks alongside other mature comic movies such as Watchmen, Blade and Hellboy, but has more black humor and pure glee than all three.
If you like your crime movies gritty and morally compromised, Sicario is one of the best in recent years. The advantage of the 4K version, reportedly, is that it was natively shot in the format and exhibits more of the detail than you could see before. Compared to many of the other titles here, its HDR effects are relatively subtle, and that's not a bad thing in our book. 2ff7e9595c
