The default Arch Linux kernel is modular, meaning many of the drivers for machine hardware reside on the hard drive and are available as modules. At boot, udev takes an inventory of your hardware and loads appropriate modules (drivers) for your corresponding hardware, which will in turn allow creation of a network interface.
If your wireless card is listed above, follow the #Troubleshooting drivers and firmware subsection of this page, which contains information about installing drivers and firmware of some specific wireless cards. Then check the driver status again.

The regulatory domain, or "regdomain", is used to reconfigure wireless drivers to make sure that wireless hardware usage complies with local laws set by the FCC, ETSI and other organizations. Regdomains use ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes. For example, the regdomain of the United States would be "US", China would be "CN", etc.
To configure the regdomain, install wireless-regdb and reboot (to reload the cfg80211 module and all related drivers). Check the boot log to make sure that the database is loaded and key verified by cfg80211:
Unified driver for Ralink chipsets (it replaces rt2500, rt61, rt73, etc). This driver has been in the Linux kernel since 2.6.24, you only need to load the right module for the chip: rt2400pci, rt2500pci, rt2500usb, rt61pci or rt73usb which will autoload the respective rt2x00 modules too.
New chipset as of 2014, released under their new commercial name Mediatek. It is an AC1200 or AC1300 chipset. Manufacturer provides drivers for Linux on their support page. As of kernel 5.5 it should be supported by the included mt76 driver.
Realtek chipsets rtl8811au, rtl8812au, rtl8814au and rtl8821au designed for various USB adapters ranging from AC600 to AC1900. Several packages provide various kernel drivers, these require DKMS (the dkms package and the kernel headers installed):
For bridging to work, both network interfaces must be able to enter promiscuous mode. My guess is that the wireless driver for the usb wifi device does not support promiscuous mode. I believe there are only a select number of wifi drivers under linux that do.
If you really need (layer-2) bridging, you should look at WDS or 802.11s mesh networking. Both address these specific problems, and they are supported by the drivers using the new software stack (mac80211). I'm not sure if Ralink adapters are supported yet.
I had the 1gb ram 120gb hdd model and used the Stock XP and OS X Dual Boot guide with these Programs and drivers. the wireless lan does not work unless you install another card like the Dell DW1390. Make sure read everything in the guide.
And as for the wireless lan, it DOES NOT WORK YET. However, there is developmental drivers out there for the Intel 3945 chipset, but I've had no success with them and find they are more problematic than anything. I have a 3G PCI Express card which I was using on my Toshiba A100 Mac OSX setup and plan on testing on this machine as well (I'm fairly certain it will work) If you can, wait it out for now, otherwise look into a replacement for the wifi card.
iATKOS 1.0 v2, MBR file format, Darwin x86 boot loader, Install went as follows: I checked in drivers Intel x3100, Realtech 8139 NIC, SMIbios, SATA support. Nothing else needed. I used Azalia Audio driver from Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4 R3. After the install I got the results below.
logo design cheap logo designIf you need these drivers, contact "E-werd" on the InsanelyMac forums. Also, I am not sure if this is an issue with the operating system power management for a real issue, but: if I boot on batter, I cannot accept any USB connections that were not connected at boot time. I cannot disconnect those items and reconnect them. I have to boot on AC power to have hotpluggable USB.
now hit enterProceed with a standard OSX86 Install. You must ONLY SELECT INTEL GMA 950 from the graphics drivers customization option.DO NOT SELECT X3100!! I know you want to, but don't! Don't install any sound drivers, WiFi or Ethernet drivers.Do not select any patches, bootflags or fixes. For the most part, it's a very plain install.Evenetually it WILL show you a little screen saying that it installed successfully and is now rebooting. Here is where it gets a little hairy.Enter the BIOS and set the startup driver to HDD Primary or whatever you are using. Save and Exit.At the Darwin prompt hit F8 and follow the procedure listed in the Kalyway Text File to remove the video drivers. Yeah I know you just installed it so why remove them? All I know is that this is what must be done. Then go through the welcome/setup screen. Once booted to the desktop, check the system profiler. It should show 1 core only. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS. Set Multi-core processing to :Enable. Reboot and the profiler should show 2 cores. Now use OSX86 Tools to install all of the above kexts. You will need to use Kexthelper b7 for a few kexts, don't ask me why. Some are just easier that way. Thanks to all ToH for making my computer nerd fantasy come true!
PS after re-plugging, dmesg says:[ 1348.179246] phy2 -> rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x09 failed for offset 0x0000 with error -108.[ 1348.179256] phy2 -> rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset 0x3000 with error -108.[ 1348.179259] phy2 -> rt73usb_init_eeprom: Error - Invalid RT chipset detected.[ 1348.179261] phy2 -> rt2x00lib_probe_dev: Error - Failed to allocate device.
Issue: The Internet connection works great but gets disconnected on using torrent, in which case the USB dongle light will go off, Internet connection will stop working (no dropbox, no browser activity) even though the network indicator is showing connected. Some points - 1. Removing the dongle and pluggingt it back restores the connection. 2. Normal net usage does not kill the net (dropbox, browser, youtube in many tabs, gwibber, skype, updates etc) 3. The connection is invariably lost between 5 mins to a few hours after a torrent program is used (transmission or deluge) 4. I started trying to fix this by googling the right settings for torrent - have changed number of connections, max download upload speed and turning off DHT but the problem persists. 5. The log file viewer indicates a problem with the USB dongle drivers (attached logs) 6. I googled around and found some forums that suggest blacklising the kernel modules rt2x00usb and rt2x00lib( =en&sl=de&u= =XQiHTJ_bOIP0tgPK78SrCg&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CCgQ7gEwAg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Drt2x00usb%2Bvendor%2Brequest:%2BError%2B-%2BVendor%2BRequest%2B0x07%2Bfailed%2Bfor%2Boffset%2B0x308c%2Bwith%2Berror%2B-110%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26prmd%3Ddf)
7. Blacklisting the modules should have no effect, they are loaded by rt73usb anyway, however blacklisting them did alleviate the issue, even if it has not gone away 8. Could not use ndiswrapper as it conflicted with rt73usb and I had no clue how to remove the driver, blacklisting it did not work. I'd like to avoid ndiswrapper anyway.

Hi, it's me again. Is there something going on with this bug? This is very annoying one. Usb modem hangs up couple times a day and I have to manually plug it in and plug it out, or execute "rmmod rt73usb && modprobe rt73usb" to restore the connection with the net. Why Unity is more important? What can I do to help.
Sorry for the delay on this. I've noted these problems on the rt2x00-users mailing list, where development for the supported Ralink drivers takes place. For help in debugging, they've suggested you try the official Ralink driver (a.k.a. "legacy driver") found here: _support/support.php?sn=501
I'm encountering exactly the same bug with rt73 drivers for onboard ralink wifi chip.. Ubuntu-based LInux Mint 17.. And 3.14--30 kernels.. What th eheck! This is still a bug?! 5 years and no solution?!
If I can get sight into the drivers (both rt73 and rt2x00USB), I might be able to pin down more specifics. For the actual bug fixers, I'd advise to check and see if the non-USB version of this chipset shares the problem to isolate the bug some more. 2ff7e9595c
