Prior to installing Catalina, the scanner worked fine with my iMac. I then installed the Scan 2 driver as directed. As of those installations, my iMac no longer recognizes the scanner as being connected via USB on the system report, nor is it recognized via Scan 2 software, image capture or printer/scanner in System Preferences. The scanner appears dead. I have checked and rechecked power and USB cables as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the Scan 2 driver. Epson support has been no help. Any ideas? Anyone else run into anything similar?
On the System Preferences > Printers & Scanner's panel, did you right-click on the device, and then re-add it with the Epson drivers to allow it to see the new driver updates? Have you tried Apple's Image Capture with this scanner instead of Epson's Scan 2 software?
Epson V550 Scanner Software For Mac
I hadn't even noticed it when I started using my new Epson v550, because I was used to it back when I had the v600. But an email asking about it reminded me of the bug that was still there: the scanner would stop between images when you are scanning a batch of multiple photographs.
Setup and SoftwareSetting up the V550 is easy: Just install the software, plug in the power cord and supplied USB cable, and turn the scanner on. I installed it on a system running Windows Vista. Software includes two scan utilities—Epson Scan with Epson Easy Photo Fix technology, plus Epson Easy Photo Print—plus an OCR program, Abbyy FineReader 9.0 Sprint. It has both Twain and WIA drivers that support scanning from nearly any Windows program with a scan command. Unlike the Epson V500 and the Epson Perfection V600 , which came with Adobe Photoshop Elements, it lacks a separate photo-editing program.
TWAIN has been the main technology used for scanning in Photoshop for many versions. However, it is not always updated for new operating systems. Therefore, it may work less reliably than other scanning solutions, such as third-party utilities such as VueScan, the scanner software that comes with your scanner, or other scanning technologies. These third-party utilities are dedicated scanning solutions, and they are more appropriate for critical or high-volume scanning.
Some scanner software lets you designate Photoshop as the external editor for an image after a scanning is completed. Consult the documentation that came with your scanner or contact your scanner manufacturer for more details.
This wikiHow will teach you how to download Epson scanner software on your computer. After you have the scanner or All-in-One connected to your computer, you can follow these steps to get the appropriate software including any drivers that are required.
My scanner of choice is the Epson Perfection series. I have used this line of Epson scanner for over fifteen years to digitize photos, documents, film, slides, and artifacts. The included software is feature rich and allows for batch-scanning, automatic numbering, scanning multiple items at one time, many file formats, and custom resolution (DPI).
After several years of hard work my old Epson V450 died and I replaced it with the V500 model. The EpsonScan software has had a few hiccups with Mac upgrades but still performs well after manually updating the Mac drivers. When my V500 stops working I plan to replace it with the current model, now the Epson Perfection V600. The under $200 price point makes this scanner a good value for an digitizing workhorse.
Hello scanner-dudes!Imaging Resource says that neither VueScan or Silverfast Ai will work with the Epson v600, but in the VueScan Release Notes it says it works. Silverlight says the same thing, so I guess its an old review.VueScan cost about 40$ and Silverfast is about 100$ (with the Multi Exsposure function, which I feel is necessary)Anyone of you with experiences with these softwares?---Links:www.imaging-resource.com/SCAN/V600/V600.HTMwww.hamrick.com/vuescan/epson_perfection_v600.htmlwww.silverfast.com/product/Epson/722/en.htmlOriginally posted at 1:58PM, 29 April 2010 PST(permalink)aspiring exchange edited this topic ages ago.
Tried Silverfast now, and it was great compared to the epson software :) I had some shots with a lot of shadows, and while the Epson only got noise out of it, Silverfast scanned the image 16 (!!) times to reduce noise and got a pretty decent image. Also, I hate the way the Epson software resets all your level adjustments and so on if you for an example changes the output size! Jeez!Haven't tried VueScan yet.Originally posted ages ago. (permalink) aspiring exchange edited this topic ages ago.
epson software?I only saw Elements in my boxedit,ok the pop up is epsonVuscan appears like decent softwarebut it is slowand they really ticked me off with the dollar sign watermarks ALL OVER THE IMAGEI get it already, I was planning to get the pro version before I saw thatbut now the Epsom and Elements combo doesn't seem as annoyingEpsom and elements is a hair flakier than I would have expectedOriginally posted ages ago. I tried SiverFast SE Plus with the HDR module, was really disappointed with the software and returned everything. You can't use iSRD (IR dust removal) in SE Plus with Epson and Microtek scanners due to "licensing issues" according to SilverFast support. For iSRD you need the separate HDR module which costs an additional $100. Then have to scan as 64bit RGBi and then do the dust removal separately in the HDR application! Huge multi-step pain in the butt. Wost was in comparing the full-size scans I felt SilverFast looked more processed and noisy than the scans out of the original Epson software! (This is something you really can't tell in the demo as it only permits saving files with a max of 150 DPI.) This was too much and I requested a refund and bought VueScan instead. For me, despite some flakiness, VueScan is hands down the better software. IR dust removal is MUCH easier to use than in SE Plus and the resulting scans, in my opinion, look more natural.Originally posted ages ago. (permalink) astroturtle edited this topic ages ago.
